So you discovered in Part 1 that we had many choices and plans to put into place to either get us up and running or closing shop and moving to Dornoch, Scotland. This was a situation where I really needed to walk my talk and do two (at least) of my steps in The Art of Herding Cats: Leading Teams of Leaders. Who would I be if I didn’t take my own advice and work the steps of the program?
I had a 1:1 coaching session with my coach, Ann Evanston, as well. We were scheduled to talk about plans for 2016. What I said was that perhaps we were meant to retire, put this all behind us and move to Dornoch Scotland which is my dream. Now the good news is that I can do my work anywhere in the world. I speak on stages, coach on leadership virtually, guest on radio, TV and telesummits, and have membership subscription programs that download automatically or at least that are the plan for 2016. I want to travel the world and speak on big Network Marketing stages. What more could I ask for — to get paid, of course.
My husband, however, is not so lucky. As an attorney licensed to practice in California, he can’t just pick up and practice anywhere else. California does not grant reciprocity to any other state for licensure. If you are licensed in another state and want to practice in California, you must pass the bar exam. Because of this, no other state will accept a California license. He would have to take the bar exam where ever we went. This could be challenging as he has almost 40 years of practice in one narrow specialty. The bar exam is a broad exam covering areas of the law he has not looked at in 40 years. It would be extremely challenging even taking the version for licensed attorneys. So what would he do? He is thinking about that.
With all of this in mind, Ann said to me that perhaps the Universe was telling me that I needed a fresh start and to go in a different direction. Perhaps to begin to think outside the box I had created for myself with both my leadership business and my event planning business. With that in mind we sketched out some ideas:
1) Speak on stage at least 2 times per month 2) Be a guest on radio / TV / telesummits at least 2 times per month 3) Continue my Leadership Stars monthly video program 4) (This is the challenging one for me.) Be on Facebook / Linked in posting 9 times a day. 5) Establish a membership portal that will start with a free 7 day preview of my 52 week program which leads to the paid 52 week program which leads to public or custom group coaching programs.
Let’s get creative now that I have a blank canvas from which to work!
Something else I have learned as a business woman is to ask for what you want. If you loved what you just read, this content is not for free. As a form of payment, I am asking you to comment or share this on Facebook or tweet about it on Twitter.
